Our birding trips are planned to optimized birdwatching experience in the various sites in Sabah. We venture from montane to lowland you a comprehensive coverage of some specialty birds in Bornean.

Sample itinerary : 8 Days 7 Nights Birding Safari

Day 1   

Arrive Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel for overnight. Orientation meeting after dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2   

After breakfast, we drive to Kinabalu Park with numerous photo stops, mountain sceneries and local market, The Kinabalu Park host Borneo’s rare Orchids, spectacular Nepenthes rajah and more. Rafflesia flower are often seen blooming in the area. Endemic birdlife, the Bornean treepie, drongos, minivet, laughingthrushes and flycatchers can be spotted around the Park. Overnight Mountain hotel.

Day 3 

Fullday birding at the park. Overnight Mountain hotel 

Day 4 

AM – After breakfast, drive to KK for flight to Lahad Datu. Upon arrival at Lahad Datu airport, proceed for 2.5 hours drive to Danum. Check-in at a Jungle Lodge.

Day 5  

Spend this day in pursuit of the endemic birds of the lowland rainforest. We venture out morning and afternoon to photograph some of the oldest rainforest and birdlife in the area. After dinner, with headlamps, we trek or drive to the darkness of the forests search of nocturnal mammals and frogs. Overnight lodge.

Day 6  

After lunch, proceed for 5 hours drive to Sukau. Check-in at the River Lodge and dinner. After dinner, night river safari on boat in search of owls, kingfishers and other nocturnal wildlife. Overnight River lodge.

Day 7  

One full day from dawn to dusk will be spent on boats and land,  in the vast wetlands of Kinabatangan. Hornbills, kingfishers, Storm Storks, Pittas  and  the elusive Ground Cuckoos can be spotted and photographed from the boat. Good chance of seeing Borneo’s elephant and wild Orang utan. After dinner, night river safari in search of crocodile, owl, civet, leopard cat etc. Overnight River lodge. 

Day 8 

After breakfast, we explore one of the biggest limestone caves in Sabah, the Gomantong Cave – home  to millions of bats and edible nest swiflets. The drive to Sandakan takes 2 hours. After lunch,  we visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre & Rainforest Discovery Centre, known to be the best places to spot the endemic Bornean Bristlehead. Transfer to airport for your onward flight or check-in a hotel in Sandakan. End of service.
